Week In Review - XC is Here

Cross Country season has arrived! On Saturday, the Collective braved the elements in Greensboro at the Hagan Stone XC Classic (which ended up being moved to a different location due to the storm), which also served as the USATF-NC Club XC Championships. This was a race-within-a-race, as the clubs ran in the University section. It was a wet, windy, and muddy affair on the two-loop 8k course. The ARC had a good battle with Bull City Track Club and earned the USATF-NC win with 26 points. This XC race was an important first step on our way to the USATF National Club Cross Country Championships in San Francisco this December.

Also this weekend - Brent Schouler lined up for the Harwich Cranberry Harvest Half Marathon in his motherland - Cape Cod, Massachusetts. He felt the effects of Hurricane Joaquin with strong winds throughout, but still managed to post a strong result and earn the W. Clearly Brent is in fine form, as evidenced by his recent capture of the all-important “Wedge Run” Strava CR. He is rumored to be making an attempt on the infamous Chumbawaba 8.7-mile CR (set this weekend by Victor McHenry) in Bent Creek in the coming weeks. Contact ARC’s bookie, Javan Lapp, to place your bets.

Blue Ridge Relay Roster Reveal - Part 2

Whoops - the Relay has come and gone, but we forgot to finish the roster reveal on the site!

Better late than never...

Word on the sports memorabilia message boards is that the 2015 Lapp card is coming in highly valued after his heroic 4-run performance last year. Some think it might even reach the fever-pitch value of the hard-to-find Stuart Moran card from the 2008 BRR. Time will tell...

Blue Ridge Relay Roster Reveal - Part 1

This morning, we were cleaning out the attic at the Asheville Running Collective HQ and came across a big box of old stuff - race numbers, cassette tapes, track medals, trading cards, and more.

It can be fun to take a walk down memory lane once in a while… feel the rush of adrenaline as you hold an old race number, wind up the tape on your well-worn copy of Thriller, and sort through those old trading cards to find some of your favorites.

Hmmm… wonder if any of these cards are worth anything?

After sifting through the big pile of cards, we finally found some that must be worth some serious cash (no, not the 1992 Roger Clemens card).  These cards make up the first set in the three-set Asheville Running Collective Blue Ridge Relay 2015 series.
